Chef Arturo

Since Arturo has not been able to work he has taken up cooking. He has two types of cookies he makes Peanut Butter, which only consists of 1 egg, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter and Chocolate Cookies. Recently, he has decided to make Chocolate Cookies, the ingredients are as follows:
1 pkg of chocolate cake mix
1 egg
1/3 c oil
1/4 c water
Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

They taste pretty good, and he is becoming quite the cookie chef.

My Evening at El Salón de Arturo

Since I recently became a year older I decided to change my hair. Normally I am not concerned about my hair when I go to the salon, but lately I have not been able to go to a salon so I had my hair done at home. I would not normally recommend this unless you have someone who knows what they are doing. But if you feel brave and want to venture into the wild then be my guest, but don't complain if it turns out awful.

Before.

Thought you might like to see how silly I looked.

This is even funnier.

After.

I think I like the after picture better. What about you? I could not have done this myself it was too difficult. I have Arturo to thank for my new look.

He is thinking of going into cosmetology now. What do you think? Does he have a future in it?

We Survived!

On November 14, 2008, Arturo and I were having a relaxing evening watching a movie. At about 11:00 pm we decided we needed to get some rest. So, we went to bed,  just before the power went out for about a minute. We thought it was strange, but we weren't concerned because the power came back on. I was having a difficult time sleeping because it was really windy AND some of our neighbors seemed to be arguing or something because their doors kept slamming. I did not think anything of it and just tried to sleep.
At 4:00 am on Saturday, November 15, 2008, the fire alarm in our apartment went off. At first I was upset because I thought someone was playing a prank. Arturo and I reluctantly got up. First, I looked to see if there was a fire in our place, nothing. Arturo looked outside. When I saw the flashing lights outside I knew there was something wrong. We quickly got dressed and ran outside. the hill behind our apartment was bright orange. We ran into the house. I called my parents to ask if we could stay with them, while Arturo packed.

We were able to go home today, Monday, November 17, 2008. Everything is fine, there is a lot of smoke, dust, and ash, but we survived. Thank you to our Heavenly Father and the firefighters who risked their lives to save our home and other homes too.

The ash and dust in front of our door. There was a lot more, but we cleaned it up before I thought to take a picture.

The view from our window. Can you see where the flames jumped the freeway?

The fire got real close. That is our building on the left.

Hello, Blog World, Here We Come!

After a lot of thought Arturo and I have decided to start a blog. Not because it seems the THING to do, but we thought it would be the easiest way to keep our friends and family up to date with our lives. (That is if we remember to post things on a fairly regular basis.)

The Many Faces of Arturo

Arturo likes to keep himself busy. He was bored so he decided to try a modeling career. What do you think, does he have the potential?

He loves hats. Probably would wear one everyday if I let him.

Want to go on a Safari?

A hunting we will go!

I love you. Bye, bye now.
